Hello
Welcome to Origin Pilates.
I am Sally and I am a fully certified Classical Pilates instructor, qualified to teach both mat Pilates and equipment based Pilates. I offer classical mat Pilates classes to people of all ages and all levels of ability.
I also offer 1:1 lessons where we can work on the reformer, tower or mat, or a combination of all three, depending on what your body needs most and what your preferences are.
I've been practicing Pilates for almost two decades. I first discovered Pilates when I was suffering with lower back pain following the birth of my first child and I have been hooked ever since. Following a tough year of treatment for breast cancer a few years ago, I returned to Pilates during my recovery. This was when I truly discovered the power of Pilates to transform and heal both our bodies and our minds. So I left my career as a childrens' nurse, and trained to become a Pilates instructor so that I could share the benefits of Pilates with others.

I hope you will join me and discover the power of Pilates to transform your life.

At Origin Pilates, I offer 1:1 sessions, duets or very small group lessons. The group lessons are mat based and have a maximum class size of 4, which enables me to tailor each class to the needs of the group, and help individuals to get the maximum benefit from every session. By being able to give individual attention, I help you to progress and develop your practice at your own pace, whilst also pushing you to challenge yourselves when I know you can. My aim is for you to leave each class feeling energised, relaxed and stronger.

I focus on helping clients to develop strong foundations in the Pilates principles of breath, concentration, control, centering, precision and flow. From these foundations, we build up a repertoir of classical Pilates exercises to deepen core strength, flexibility, stamina, balance and coordination.

All the exercises are carefully modified to meet individual needs, so that whatever your current level of physical ability, I aim to enable and challenge you in your practice. Pilates has something to offer everybody and every body!
Movement is an essential component of happiness. Everybody feels better when they can move well. Pilates can help to strengthen our bodies and improve our posture, flexibility, coordination and balance. But it can also help to improve our mental wellbeing. It requires real concentration and a true mind-body connection, helping us to focus on how our bodies are feeling and moving.
The time you spend practising Pilates is time just for you. It is the co-ordination of movement and breath with focus of the mind makes Pilates so effective. However, Pilates is not a quick fix. It is a discipline that requires a commitment from you to yourself, to dedicate time to practice 2-3 times a week. To support you in this, I try to give clients something to practice thoughout the week at home, to help you make progress.
